Thank you, Ann. I really do appreciate what you're saying here. I don't think you're wrong at all. If he wants to change just because he wants to be accepted, then that's not the same as wanting to change because you genuinely desire change. I have to assume that he does really want to change. I don't want to assume anything in bad faith.
I thought I was past all of this, Ann. I wasn't going to forgive him, but I understood him. When we met him in the Ark, and when he died... I thought I could make peace with that. That he was a boy forced into terrible choices, though it didn't excuse his actions.
But then I saw him alive again and I'm not sure I'm ready for that.
