If he wants to change just because he wants to be accepted, then that's not the same as wanting to change because you genuinely desire change. I have to assume that he does really want to change. I don't want to assume anything in bad faith.
I thought I was past all of this, Ann. I wasn't going to forgive him, but I understood him. When we met him in the Ark, and when he died... I thought I could make peace with that. That he was a boy forced into terrible choices, though it didn't excuse his actions.
But then I saw him alive again and I'm not sure I'm ready for that.
